Psychosomatic Bodywork

What is Psychosomatic Bodywork?

Psychosomatic Bodywork is a holistic, integrative approach to healing that combines several synergistic modalities to address the mind-body connection. This powerful method works to optimize your nervous system, release deep muscular tension, and balance your spiritual and energetic systems—all tailored to your unique needs.

How does it work, exactly?

Let me break it down for you. Psychosomatic Bodywork brings together techniques like Be Activated, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Reiki, and breathwork. These aren’t just fancy terms—they’re highly effective methods that, when combined, deliver immediate and lasting results.

Here’s how each modality contributes to the process:

Be Activated (BA)

This is the starting point for nervous system optimization. By using activation points on the body and guided breathing techniques, we restore nervous system input to the muscles. The result? Immediate improvements in flexibility, strength, and power, along with a profound shift into the parasympathetic state—your body’s natural mode for rest, repair, and flow.

Myofascial Release (MR)

Tension and discomfort often stem from the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles. Through sustained pressure and guided breathwork, we release fascial buildup, reduce pain, and improve range of motion. Clients frequently describe this process as not only a physical relief but also a deeply mental and spiritual healing experience.

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)

This targeted therapy focuses on trigger points, adhesions, and tension patterns in your muscles and connective tissue. By addressing these problem areas, NMT helps release tightness and restore your body’s natural function. It’s ideal for relieving chronic pain and improving overall muscle performance.

Reiki

Reiki brings a calming, meditative element to each session. This Japanese healing technique uses gentle touch to reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support your body’s natural healing processes. Many clients describe it as a “shared meditation,” allowing them to deeply relax and let go while their energy is rebalanced.

Psychosomatic Bodywork is a holistic, integrative approach to healing that combines five synergistic modalities (Be Activated, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Reiki, and breathwork) to address the mind-body connection. I prefer the term “sensory rich” 😊 Kidding aside, there are aspects of my bodywork style (deep tissue and Myofascial Release) that can be uncomfortable for short periods of time. That being said, I will moderate the amount of pressure to each client’s individual tolerance within the session.

Yes, I am an LMT in Ohio (No. 33.027215). I have also been extensively trained and certified in the Be Activated System for optimizing the nervous system. Additionally, I am a Master Reiki practitioner.

There are many benefits to Swedish Effleurage. That is the typical relaxing massage offered at most spas, massage centers and by many individual therapists. It is not how I work. To be honest, you can easily find a massage therapist who specializes in this modality and will therefore be more skilled, and less expensive.

I do not directly work through any medical insurance companies. There are some insurance companies that include a certain number of massages per year. There are also some employers who include massages as part of their benefits packages. I will be happy to provide any paperwork and/or communications with either type of entity to assist you in getting reimbursed for sessions.

I wouldn’t have it any other way. We both deserve the chance to get to know each other before deciding to spend time together.
